West Bromwich Albion will look to leapfrog Newcastle at the top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League second division on Monday as Siem de Jong and Gabriel Obertan continue to build up their match fitness for the Magpies.
Peter Beardsley's side are currently in pole position in the league while the Baggies are third, two points behind United. Middlesbrough, who are in second place, have played a game more.
De Jong scored in his first appearance since August when United entertained Carlisle in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week, while Obertan also played against the Cumbrians having been sidelined since November.
"The guys in the medical department have worked so hard with him behind the scenes to get him up to this condition as quickly as they have," John Carver said of the Frenchman last week.
Both will feature in the 1pm kick-off against the Baggies, which will be played at the Newcastle United Training Centre with no access to the general public, while Jonas Gutierrez will also be involved.
Goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, who returned to the first-team squad at Hull on Saturday after missing two matches with a shoulder complaint, will be between the posts.
