Robert Kenedy Nunes Nascimento - better known as Kenedy - is a Brazilian winger who joined Newcastle United on loan from Chelsea in January 2018.
Born in Santa Rita do Sapucaí, between the footballing hotbeds of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, he started out at local side Santarritense before moving to Rio and eventually joining the academies of two of the city’s professional clubs, Vasco da Gama and Fluminense.
In 2013, Kenedy made his first team debut for Fluminense in a Serie A game at Grêmio aged just 17 and as his game-time increased over the following two seasons, clubs from around the world began to take notice.
The race for his signature was won by then-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and in the summer of 2015, he completed a move to the Blues, making 14 Premier League appearances in his first season in England.
Kenedy spent a short spell on loan at Watford in 2016 - making one appearance - but found himself on the fringes of the first team on his return to Stamford Bridge.
After impressing in cup appearances during the first half of the 2017/18 campaign, he was snapped up on loan by Rafa Benítez and quickly made a positive impact on Tyneside.
And, while he returned to his parent club at the end of the season, he was subsequently re-signed on loan for the whole of the 2018/19 campaign.
Kenedy has represented Brazil at Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 level.
