Team news: Wilson returns as Howe makes four changes

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Callum Wilson is back in Newcastle United's starting line-up as the Magpies go looking for a first Premier League win since the opening day of the season at Fulham.

Frontman Wilson hasn't figured for United since the 70th minute of Eddie Howe's side's thrilling 3-3 draw with Man City - during the penultimate weekend of August.

Wilson replaces Alexander Isak up top, with the Swede absent from today's matchday squad. All told, boss Howe has made four changes to the side which drew 1-1 with former club Bournemouth at St. James' Park a fortnight ago.

Sven Botman comes in for Matt Targett in defence, with Dan Burn moving across to left back. In midfield, Sean Longstaff replaces Joelinton, while Jacob Murphy starts in place of Ryan Fraser out wide. Unlike Isak, Targett, Joelinton and Fraser are all on the bench.

There, there is also a spot for Chris Wood, who'd been a doubt for the game entirely after picking up a rib injury while away with New Zealand last week.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimarães, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Miguel Almirón, Jacob Murphy, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Loris Karius, Paul Dummett, Jamal Lewis, Matt Targett, Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton, Elliot Anderson, Ryan Fraser, Chris Wood.
