German goalkeeper Karius joined the Magpies as a free agent in September 2022, bringing Premier League, Bundesliga and Champions League experience to St. James' Park.
A free agent following his departure from Liverpool in the summer of 2022, Karius agreed a deal with United until January 2023 with an option to extend his stay until the end of the season.
His competitive debut for the club came in the 2023 Carabao Cup final at Wembley, when he deputised for the suspended Nick Pope in the Magpies' first major cup final in 24 years.
Karius has also played for Mainz, Beşiktaş and Union Berlin, and played in the Champions League final for Liverpool in 2018.
