Team news: Barnes starts against Bournemouth

Harvey Barnes will start his first game since returning from injury when Newcastle United take on Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm GMT).

The former Leicester City man comes into the Magpies' starting 11 at the expense of Callum Wilson, who misses out after undergoing surgery on a pectoral muscle problem sustained in last weekend's 3-2 Premier League win at Nottingham Forest.

The inclusion of Barnes - who has come off the bench in each of Newcastle's last two games, scoring against Luton, having returned from a four-month lay-off - is the only change made by head coach Eddie Howe, who is looking to extend his side's unbeaten run to four games as he comes up against his former club.

Martin Dúbravka starts in goal, with Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn continuing as full backs and Fabian Schär and Sven Botman lining up at the heart of United's defence.

Bruno Guimarães, Lewis Miley and Sean Longstaff resume their partnership in the middle of the park, with Miguel Almirón and Barnes deployed on the right and left flanks respectively.

And the versatile Gordon will start in attack for Howe's side in the absence of Wilson and fellow frontman Alexander Isak.

Jacob Murphy and Tino Livramento are among the substitutes, along with Emil Krafth - who signed a one-year contract extension with the club this week - and Lewis Hall.

Youngster Joe White is also included, as are Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles and goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn; Lewis Miley, Bruno Guimarães, Sean Longstaff; Miguel Almirón, Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes.

Substitutes: Loris Karius, Tino Livramento, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Lewis Hall, Matt Ritchie, Joe White, Jacob Murphy.
