Toon in training: Magpies get ready to kick off cup campaign

Focus switches to the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, with the Magpies facing Premier League opposition in Burnley at St. James' Park.

Isaac Hayden, who was forced off at half time at Aston Villa on Saturday with a knee injury, did not train on Monday and neither did Jonjo Shelvey, so Jeff Hendrick could come into contention to face his former club while Matty and Sean Longstaff are also battling for a central midfield berth.

Paul Dummett, who has yet to feature this term, made a welcome return to the training pitches while Steve Bruce will choose between Freddie Woodman, Mark Gillespie and Dan Langley when it comes to deciding who will play in goal against the Clarets.

Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
