Magpies confirm signing of goalkeeper Mark Gillespie

Boyhood Newcastle fan Mark Gillespie rejoined the Magpies in the summer of 2020, having left the club as a youngster in 2008.

He was 16 years old when he was allowed to leave the Magpies' Little Benton Academy, and went on to join Carlisle United, making 180 appearances for the Cumbrians.

Gillespie then moved on to Walsall and then to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, helping the Well to finish third in the 2019/20 campaign.

And that saw him brought back to St. James' Park on a three-year contract.
