Newcastle's under-21s entertain table-topping Middlesbrough at St. James' Park on Tuesday (kick-off 7pm).

The Magpies - coached by Football Development Manager Peter Beardsley - are currently third in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League second division, with a game in hand on the Teessiders.

And four players with senior experience are included in United's second-string squad for the game, which is free to season ticket holders and Members (otherwise £3 for adults and £1 concessions).

Gabriel Obertan has put himself forward to play as he looks to force his way back into the starting XI.

The 26-year-old wideman hasn't played since last month's 3-0 defeat at Everton, when he was replayed by Ayoze Perez at half-time, but could be an option for United's next game at Liverpool if John Carver chooses to freshed up his side after Sunday's disappointing derby defeat to Sunderland.

Adam Armstrong came on for the final few minutes at the Stadium of Light and he's another player pushing for a start at Anfield having again demonstrated his quality with three goals in a week for England under-18s at the end of last month.

Lubo Satka and Callum Roberts, who both appeared as substitutes in January's FA Cup third round loss at Leicester, are also involved.

Olivier Kemen, an unused substitute at the Stadium of Light, is set to line up in midfield.

The East Stand will be open on the night.
