Steve McClaren has named a strong starting line-up for Newcastle's friendly at Sheffield United

Steve McClaren has named a strong starting line-up for Newcastle United's pre-season friendly at Sheffield United (1pm kick-off).

The Magpies side which takes to the Bramall Lane pitch for Chris Morgan's testimonial features no fewer than six senior internationals, along with a host of established Premier League names.

Newcastle are expected to start in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with goalkeeper Tim Krul behind a back four of captain-for-the-day Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor and Massadio Haidara.

Vurnon Anita and Jack Colback will anchor the visitors' midfield, with Moussa Sissoko, summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum and Ayoze Perez in front of them.

And that trio will be tasked with supplying the ammunition for Papiss Cisse, who was Newcastle's top scorer last season with 11 goals.

On the substitutes' bench there are places for Siem de Jong and Rolando Aarons, along with Adam Armstrong, Yoan Gouffran, Gabriel Obertan, Mehdi Abeid, Jamaal Lascelles, Lubomir Satka and goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
