Marveaux To Face Stoke Second-String

Written by Newcastle Utd

Frenchman Sylvain Marveaux is included in the Newcastle under-21s squad for the home game against Stoke City

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Sylvain Marveaux is included in the squad for Monday night's Barclays Under-21 Premier League match between Newcastle and Stoke at Whitley Park (kick-off 7pm).

The Frenchman is one of six players with first-team experience for the Magpies to be selected by Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley, whose side won 2-1 at Aston Villa in their last league outing two weeks ago.

Spanish star Xisco will get another run-out after starting at Villa Park in his first United start in 18 months, while summer signing Romain Amalfitano is also included.

James Tavernier will be involved while Mehdi Abeid and Adam Campbell, who scored the goals to beat the Villans, make up the list of players to boast senior appearances for the Club.

Newcastle beat the Potters 5-1 in the reverse fixture at the Britannia Stadium last month, with Bradden Inman grabbing a hat-trick and the Aussie midfielder will hope to add to his impressive tally of six goals in six appearances at second-string level this term.

JJ Hooper opened his under-21 account in that fixture while Marcus Maddison was also on target and they're again included.

Entry is £3 for adults and £1 concessions, with season ticket holders and Members gaining free entry.

The squad is: Mehdi Abeid, Jak Alnwick, Romain Amalfitano, Adam Campbell, Curtis Good, JJ Hooper, Bradden Inman, Marcus Maddison, Sylvain Marveaux, Jonathan Mitchell, Yven Moyo, Alex Nicholson, Michael Riley, Lubo Satka, James Tavernier, Xisco
