Gutierrez To Make Return

Written by Newcastle Utd

Jonas Gutierrez will make his playing comeback when Newcastle entertain West Ham in the Under-21 Premier League Cup on Monday

Jonas Gutierrez will make his comeback for Newcastle United in Monday's Under-21 Premier League Cup last 16 tie against West Ham United (kick-off 1pm).

The Argentine ace returned to Tyneside earlier this month after overcoming cancer and, having taken part in training in recent days, will now make his playing comeback against the Hammers as an over-age player at Whitley Park.

Ironically, Gutierrez made his last appearance in black and white in the same competition just under a year ago, when United beat Leciester City 2-1 at the same venue.

Peter Beardsley's Magpies needed extra time to beat Crewe Alexandra 2-1 in the last round. Callum Roberts got both goals and he's likely to be involved again after making the first-team bench for the first time at Tottenham in midweek.

Extra time and penalties could again be needed on Monday, as there will be no replay.

Admission is free to season ticket holders and Members. Otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions (under-16s and over-65s).
