Newcastle United Women's perfect start to the season continued on Sunday with an impressive victory at Stockport County Ladies.

Becky Langley's side were 6-0 winners at FC United of Manchester Women in their opening game before a 7-1 home victory against Alnwick Town Ladies in midweek - a result achieved thanks to a hat-trick from Kacie Elson and four goals from Katie Barker.

Both players were missing here at the Stockport Sports Village, so it is testament to the strength in depth of this Lady Magpies squad that they were still able to pick up all three points with relative ease.

United took the lead in the 17th minute when Anna Soulsby's shot was saved but teenager Georgina Spraggon pounced on the rebound for her second goal of the campaign.

Then just after the half-hour mark, New Zealand ace Rosie Missen powered home from Georgia Gibson's free kick to give Newcastle a commanding half-time lead - although Grace Donnelly was called into action on three occasions before the break to maintain her side's two-goal advantage.

After a quiet start to the second half, Soulsby made it 3-0 as the hour approached, forcing the ball over the line after Gibson's effort was spilled.

And United made sure of their second clean sheet in three games when Donnelly made another fine save in the 81st minute before Jane Harland cleared off the line from the resulting corner.

The result means that Newcastle are top of the FAWNL Division One North on goal difference, with Liverpool Feds Women also winning all three games so far.

Langley's ladies are at home to Chorley Women next Sunday, with a 2pm kick-off at Druid Park. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with contactless payment preferred.
