That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!

Leicester never really got going this afternoon, they didn't force the Newcastle keeper into making any strong saves and didn't come to live until they managed to pull one back late on, with Vardy striking home from close range. They remain eighth, now six points behind Burnley.

Newcastle come out on top at the King Power Stadium, a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Foxes with goals from Shelvey and Perez, to surely secure their Premier League survival with six games left to play. This victory takes them 10 points clear of Southampton who occupy the final relegation spot in the league.

FULL-TIME: LEICESTER 1-2 NEWCASTLE

94'

That's the full-time whistle!

92'

Time is ticking down for Leicester now, they aren't really threatening to score here and Newcastle appear to be pretty comfortable at the back and should wrap up all three points.

90'

There will be a minimum of four minutes of added time played here.

88'

No side has scored more 90th minute goals in the Premier League than Leicester this season (6, same as Watford and Man City), with the Foxes netting one in each of their last three games. Only Arsenal in March 2010 have scored a 90th minute goal in four consecutive Premier League games.

86'

Can Leicester complete the comeback and get another goal to share the points? They are certainly piling players forward once more in search of another goal, but they haven't got much time left to do so.

Goal Jamie Vardy

Assist Shinji Okazaki

83'

Newcastle look very comfortable now, they are allowing Leicester to have the ball and play it around the middle of the pitch, putting them under heavy pressure as soon as the ball gets near the final third.

81'

Substitution Mohamed Diamé Isaac Hayden

79'

The Newcastle supporters are making a huge amount of noise here, they are loving this performance from their side which will surely see them secure their Premier League status for next season. The Magpies will be 10 points clear if the afternoon results remain as they are, with just six games remaining.

Substitution Fousseni Diabaté Demarai Gray

Assist Florian Lejeune

goal!

Goal Ayoze Pérez Gutiérrez

74'

Slight stoppage in play here as Yedlin is down receiving medical treatment, he jogs off to the side of the pitch and the Newcastle right-back looks fine to continue.

72'

Leicester continue to press forward here in search of an equalising goal, there is still plenty of time left on the clock to get back into the game. The Foxes are getting closer, with Mahrez now more involved in the game but they are still yet to force Dubravka into making a save.

70'

Substitution Dwight Gayle José Luis Sanmartín Mato

67'

It's getting pretty heated out their on the pitch now, with the Leicester players and supporters getting more frustrated that they can't break through this Newcastle defence. The tackles are flying in, making it a fast and exciting game to watch.

64'

Substitution Robert Kenedy Nunes do Nascimento Christian Atsu Twasam

62'

Newcastle haven’t won any of their last five Premier League away games against Leicester (D3 L2) since a 2-1 win in December 1999.

60'

An excellent spell of attacking pressure by Leicester, they ball was being fired around the final third for a couple of minutes, with Silva and Mahrez both firing shots a goal, however Newcastle final manage to break up the play, as Albrighton is caught offside.

59'

It's all Leicester at the moment, they are dominating possession but are struggling to create any attacking chances in the final third, but they do have Newcastle penned inside their own half. However, Newcastle look very dangerous on the counter-attack, exploiting the space that the Foxes are leaving in their search for an equalising goal.

57'

Substitution Danny Simpson Shinji Okazaki

55'

Yellow card Matt Ritchie

55'

Yellow card Matt Ritchie

52'

Yellow card Dwight Gayle

50'

Jonjo Shelvey scored his first Premier League goal in 868 days, with that strike also his first for Newcastle in the top-flight (39 apps).

48'

Decent effort! Gayle manages to get the ball up and over the wall but there is too much height on the ball and it flies over the crossbar. It looks like Schmeichel had it covered anyway if it was on target.

47'

Newcastle have a free-kick in an excellent shooting position here, after Kenedy dribbles the ball past Choudhury, who then sticks out a leg and brings the winger down. The Magpies have the set piece around 25 yards out from goal, with Gayle standing over the ball.

46'

The second half is underway!

Newcastle hold the advantage at the break, after Shelvey's strike gave them an early lead at the King Power Stadium. Leicester have struggled to get going so far this afternoon and need to improve after the break if they are to get back into this game. They are yet to carve open any chances and threaten the Newcastle goal.

HALF-TIME: LEICESTER 0-1 NEWCASTLE

47'

That's the half-time whistle!

45'

There will be a minimum of two minutes of added time played here.

44'

Leicester are playing with more attacking intent now, they are trying to play the ball around the pitch quicker and nick a goal before half-time. They certainly seem more fired up since the Mahrez penalty shout a few minutes ago.

42'

Substitution Vicente Iborra De La Fuente Hamza Choudhury

42'

Substitution Vicente Iborra De La Fuente Hamza Choudhury

38'

PENALTY SHOUT! The Leicester players and supporters can't believe that a penalty hasn't been given here! Silva slides the ball through to Mahrex, he sprints into the box and Dummet slides into the tackle, with Mahrez going down under the tackle.

35'

The Newcastle keeper, Dubravka hasn't yet had a save to make in this game, with his defence comfortably coping with anything the Foxes can throw at them so far in this first half.

33'

We're past the half an hour mark now at the King Power Stadium and Newcastle lead 1-0, with Leicester now enjoying the majority of possession and trying to get back into the game before the break. However, there hasn't been any signs of an equalising goal just yet, they are struggling to create anything in the final third, with Mahrez and Vardy struggling to get any touches on the ball.

31'

Jamie Vardy is down injured at the moment, he was struck by Mo Diame deep inside the penalty area, but he looks fine to continue.

29'

Newcastle are looking to secure three consecutive Premier League victories for the first time since September.

26'

Despite all of the possession at the moment, Leicester aren't moving the ball quick enough and haven't yet mustered a strong attacking chance to threaten the Newcastle goal.

24'

The game is getting feisty now, especially after the incident a few minutes ago. Leicester are pressing forward and trying to get an equalising goal, keeping Newcastle penned inside their own half.

21'

Yellow card Jamal Lascelles

21'

Yellow card Harry Maguire

Assist Ayoze Pérez Gutiérrez

goal!

Goal Jonjo Shelvey

16'

Decent chance! Good pressure by Leicester, it all come about after an excellent run by Mahrez down the right, winning a corner, which is cleared to the edge of the box and Chilwell whips another cross into the box. Morgan meets it with a glancing header, but he doesn't get enough on it and it goes well wide of the Newcastle goal.

15'

The Foxes are unbeaten in six home Premier League games (W2 D4), with the last three all ending level. They’ve not drawn four in a row at home in the top-flight since March 2004.

12'

Newcastle are seeing more of the ball, with Shelvey starting to dictate the centre of midfield for Newcastle, his distribution and creativity is always key to this Magpies side.

10'

The game is end to end at the moment, with both teams being sloppy in possession and because of this they are unable to create any periods of sustained pressure. Newcastle appear to have more of an attacking threat in the early stages, but Gayle isn't troubling the Foxes centre-backs at the moment and Leicester are defending comfortably.

7'

The atmosphere is excellent here, with plenty of Newcastle supporters making the journey to Leicester this afternoon. They have had much more to shout about in recent weeks after a good run of form which appears to have got themselves out of a relegation battle. However they aren't safe just yet, but a victory today would be a massive step towards that.

5'

Newcastle have never won at the King Power Stadium in all competitions (D2 L3), scoring just one goal in their five previous visits to the ground (Darren Ambrose in December 2003).

3'

Kenedy whips the ball into the area, it's blocked and he gets another chance. The second corner is much better and closer to Schmeichel who has to react well to punch it behind at his near post. The third corner is taken short, a cross comes in and is met by Perez, but the effort is comfortably gathered by Schmeichel. Good start by the Magpies.

2'

Newcastle have themselves an early corner here, after a cross into the box by Ritchie which is blocked by Chilwell, can they take an early lead?

1'
