Hudson-Odoi and Alonso go for the one-two down the flank, but the former just has too much pace on his pass for the Spaniard to collect.

Chelsea can see this victory out with ease this afternoon. They've barely had to get out of first gear in the second half.

SAVE! Zappacosta lines up a strike from the right inside channel and hammers his effort towards goal, but is denied by a sharp save from Darlow.

Pedro almost latches on to Ampadu's ball over the top of the Newcastle defence, but he just cannot take it in stride as the on-rushing Darlow gathers ahead of him.

The Belgian tests Newcastle once again down the left inside channel. This time Mbemba makes the block, although he concedes a corner in the process.

Hazard probes down the left flank, but the Magpies have three players there to stop the cross as Lascelles makes the interception.

Cahill has a scary moment as he loses control of the ball with Joselu lurking, but he manages to regain his composure to knock it back to Caballero.

WIDE! Pedro and Batshuayi combine with a one-two in the left inside channel to allow the Spaniard to surge to the byline. His low cross is deflected into the path of Drinkwater on the edge of the box, who scuffs his left-footed strike wide of the post.

Chelsea are knocking the ball around with ease at the moment. Newcastle are not providing the pressure on the ball to stop the Blues' rhythm.

Hazard latches on to a pass down the left from Alonso, but the Belgian is flagged offside as he surges away from Mbemba.

SAVE! Zappacosta raids down the right and he lifts a cross to the back post. Alonso lines up the strike on the volley and connects sweetly to direct his effort at goal. Manquillo gets a piece of the attempt, but does not stop it travelling towards the net. Darlow reacts well to turn the ball away from goal.

Hayden is afforded space on the right flank and he sends the ball into the box. Shelvey rises to meet the delivery, but once again he fails to convert, heading over the bar.

OVER! Rudiger swings a cross in from the right flank and Lascelles can only guide the ball back to Pedro on the edge of the box. The Spaniard takes a touch to get it on to his left foot, only to curl his strike narrowly over the bar.

Newcastle have barely had a kick in the second half. Chelsea are dominating the ball, although they've not been able to penetrate deep into the final third.

Chelsea have started the second half in command of possession and are moving the ball with ease without pressure from the visitors.

SAVE! From the resulting corner Chelsea get themselves in a tangle at the back. Mbemba pounces on the loose ball and stabs an effort at goal, but Caballero gets down to divert his strike wide.

SAVE! Shelvey collects Mbemba's pass on the edge of the box and goes for the strike at goal. It deflects off Christensen and spins towards the bottom corner, only for Caballero to turn the ball past the post.

CHANCE! Christensen plays a hospital pass to Drinkwater and he loses out on the edge of his own box. Shelvey collects from Ritchie's tackle, but he can only fire a tame effort straight at Caballero.

Alonso loses possession down the left and it allows Manquillo to send a cross into the box with men forward, but Cahill cuts out the ball with ease. A wasted opportunity for the visitors.

CLOSE! Rudiger ventures forward and beats the challenge of Shelvey before striking on his left foot from 20 yards. His effort appears goalbound, only to drift an inch wide of the post.

Newcastle try to hit back immediately and Haidara sends a fine delivery across the face of goal, but there are no black and white shirts gambling at the back post.

Chelsea are struggling for rhythm in the contest as the Magpies have a done a solid job preventing them from working the ball out from the back.

Zappacosta speeds into space down the right flank, but his delivery sails over Hazard's head. Alonso seizes possession and goes for the strike, although his weak effort is blocked with ease. Chelsea keep the attack alive through Hazard, only to send the ball out for play for a goal-kick.

SAVE! Haidara raids down the left and squeezes a cross to the near post. Shelvey steers the ball towards the bottom corner, but Caballero gets down well to turn his strike past the post.

Hazard whips the cross into the box and Cahill tries to meet it on the charge, but he fails to make sufficient contact and the Magpies clear their lines.

Zappacosta probes down the right flank and attempts to whip a cross into the box, but Haidara diverts the ball behind for a corner.

BLOCK! Hazard takes the free-kick, but can only smash his effort straight into the wall. A wasted opportunity for the home side.

Hazard raids with menace to the edge of the box before having his ankles clipped by Mbemba. The Blues have an excellent opportunity from the resulting set-piece.

Manquillo loses out to Alonso down the flank and Hazard collects the loose ball to run at Mbemba. The defender makes the tackle, but Hazard believes that he has a corner, only for the referee to point for a goal-kick.
