Loan Watch: Two In Two For Thauvin

Florian Thauvin bagged his second goal in as many games, rescuing a point for Marseille against Nantes

Florian Thauvin bagged his second goal in as many games, rescuing a point for Marseille against Nantes on Sunday.

The 23-year-old winger struck just after half time to level the scores at the Stade Velodrome, after Nicolas N'Koulou's own goal had given the visitors the lead after 31 minutes.

Thauvin, who scored Marseille's winner against Sochaux to book his side's place in the French Cup final last weekend, completed 90 minutes for Franck Passi's men, while fellow Magpies loanee Remy Cabella came on as a 69th-minute substitute for Steven Fletcher, but was unable to force a winner as the game ended 1-1.

Winger Sammy Ameobi helped Cardiff City keep their Championship play-off hopes alive with a dramatic 2-1 home win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Ameobi came on at half time with the Bluebirds 1-0 down, but he played his part in the Welsh side's recovery as a goal from Kenneth Zohore and a late Peter Whittingham penalty won it for the hosts.

Adam Armstrong, who was named in the League One PFA Sky Bet Team of the Year last week, couldn't prevent Coventry City from slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers.

The 19-year-old played the full game at the Keepmoat Stadium as goals from Tommy Rowe and Andy Williams won it for Donny.

Midfielder Gael Bigirimana wasn't included in the Sky Blues' squad for the game.

League One leaders Wigan Athletic beat Southend United 4-1, with Haris Vuckic making an appearance as a replacement for Will Grigg in the last quarter of an hour.

The Slovenian didn't get on the scoresheet, however, with a Grigg double and strikes from Chris McCann and Michael Jacobs having already done the damge by the time of his introduction.

In the same division, Liam Smith started for Blackpool in their 0-0 draw at Fleetwood Town this weekend, but was withdrawn with eight minutes remaining as Neil McDonald's side chased the win that would have lifted the Tangerines out of the drop zone.

Ivan Toney, meanwhile, made a brief cameo as a 94th-minute substitute for Barnsley in their 0-0 draw at Sheffield United.

In League Two, defender Macaulay Gillesphey helped Carlisle United keep a clean sheet as they recorded a 1-0 win at Crawley Town.

Alex Gilliead also featured for the Cumbrians as a second half substitute as a goal from Charlie Wyke won it for Keith Curle's side.

But Kyle Cameron's York City were relegated from the Football League on Saturday.

A 3-0 defeat at Accrington Stanley sealed the Minstermen's fate, with centre back Cameron playing the full 90 minutes. Fellow defender Lubo Satka wasn't part of the City squad.
