Loan Watch: Cameron Makes League Bow

Written by Newcastle Utd

Kyle Cameron made his Football League debut as York City lost 1-0 to Newport County on Saturday.

Scotland under-19 international Cameron joined the Minstermen last week and went straight into Jackie McNamara's side, but Aaron Collins' eighth-minute strike proved to be the only goal of the game.

Cameron played the whole match but York remain bottom of League Two following their latest loss.

Elsewhere in League Two, Carlisle drew 0-0 at Barnet. Alex Gilliead appeared as 72nd-minute substitute but Macaulay Gillesphey did not feature.

In League One, there was a rare defeat for Coventry City and a rare weekend without a goal for Adam Armstrong, who played 90 minutes in the Sky Blues' home reverse to leaders Burton.

Gael Bigirimana came on in the 58th minute.

Haris Vuckic played for the first 70 minutes as Wigan beat Chesterfield 3-1, with all of the Latics' goals coming in the first half.

Millwall played on Sunday following Thursday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area final first leg defeat to Oxford, and made amends with a 3-1 win over Port Vale.

Shane Ferguson, who has played on the wing in recent weeks, reverted to left-back and played the whole game. Former Newcastle youngster JJ Hooper got Port Vale's consolation.

In the Championship, Sammy Ameobi was an unused substitute for Cardiff City as they won 3-1 at Wolves on Saturday.

Remy Cabella came on as an 82nd-minute substitute for Marseille as they recorded a 3-1 victory at Caen in Ligue 1.
