Loan Watch: Armstrong's Lucky 13

Written by Newcastle Utd

Adam Armstrong struck his 13th goal of the season on Saturday as Coventry stayed top of League One

Adam Armstrong scored his 13th goal of the season for Coventry City on Saturday.

The 18-year-old striker opened the scoring against Doncaster after half an hour, but the Sky Blues could only draw 2-2 at the Ricoh Arena.

Armstrong played the whole game while Gael Bigirimana was an unused substitute in the League One clash.

Having made a big impact as a substitute in midweek, Alex Gilliead started for Carlisle and played the full match as they beat Crawley 3-1 at Brunton Park in League Two.

And he created the opening goal after just two minutes, crossing for Charlie Wyke to head home.

Carlisle's second also owed much to the on-loan Newcastle man as Gilliead's run allowed former Darlington midfielder Jason Kennedy to tee up Wyke.

Macaulay Gillesphey again missed out through injury, but could return to training next week.

In the Championship, Mike Williamson helped Wolves to keep another clean sheet. He played 90 minutes as Kenny Jackett's side drew 0-0 at home to MK Dons.

Shane Ferguson played for 83 minutes as Millwall beat Bury 1-0 in League One while Ivan Toney came from the bench in the 71st minute to help Barnsley snatch a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw against local rivals Sheffield United.

Sammy Ameobi was not involved as Cardiff drew 2-2 at home to Burnley, while Haris Vuckic was absent as Wigan earned a 0-0 draw at Southend.

Liam Gibson wasn't part of the Gateshead team which beat Chester 1-0.
