Steve McClaren has named a strong starting line-up for Newcastle United's final pre-season friendly, at home against Borussia Monchengladbach (3pm kick-off).

The Magpies' side features summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum, with the Dutch former PSV Eindhoven midfielder one of six senior internationals who will be taking to the St. James' Park pitch from the off.

The others are goalkeeper Tim Krul - who will skipper United - defender Daryl Janmaat, midfielders Vurnon Anita and Moussa Sissoko, and striker Papiss Cisse.

Newcastle's other two new arrivals - front man Aleksandar Mitrovic and defender Chancel Mbemba - have been named among the substitutes and are expected to get game time against their German opponents.

The hosts are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with number one stopper Krul behind a back four of Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor and Massadio Haidara.

Anita and Jack Colback will anchor the Newcastle midfield, with a trio of Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Gabriel Obertan in front of them. And they will be tasked with supplying the ammunition for Cisse, who finished last season as the Club's top scorer, with 11 goals.

Joining Mitrovic and Mbemba on the substitutes' bench are Ayoze Perez, Rolando Aarons, Yoan Gouffran, Siem de Jong, Mehdi Abeid, Olivier Kemen, Gael Bigirimana, Jamaal Lascelles, Shane Ferguson and Karl Darlow.
