Head Coach Hoping For King Power Positives

Written by Newcastle Utd

John Carver has spoken about avenging the disappointment of January's FA Cup exit at Leicester

Newcastle United travel to face Leicester City this weekend in what could prove to be a crucial fixture, with both sides on the hunt to secure Barclays Premier League safety.

The Magpies' first win of the 2014/15 season came in a 1-0 victory over Leicester at St. James' Park last October, where winger Gabriel Obertan grabbed all three points with the only goal of the game.

However, when United travelled to the King Power Stadium in January, they fell at the first hurdle of the FA Cup when Leonardo Ulloa netted in a single-goal triumph for the Foxes.

"That wasn't a good day," said head coach John Carver, looking back at the FA Cup tie.

"Contrary to what people think, I put out the strongest team that I could and I wasn't influenced in my choice.

"It wasn't a nice day for the huge following of fans that came down there with us and left disappointed and I don't want to suffer the same again this weekend."

Newcastle will be backed by a sell-out 1,900 supporters on Saturday for their second trip to Leicester, and Carver has urged those travelling to roar the Magpies onto three important points.

"It's fantastic, we need that support," he continued.

"We need them to be right behind us and I'm sure that they will be. This time we need to give them something to shout about."
