Newcastle can go to within a point of Barclays Under-21 Premier League division two leaders Arsenal when they entertain Aston Villa at St. James' Park on Monday (kick-off 7pm).

Facundo Ferreyra and Adam Armstrong have both been named in a strong second-string squad by Football Development Manager Peter Beardsley, whose side were unbeaten in five matches before losing at Middlesbrough last week.

Admission is free to season ticket holders and Members, or £3 for adults and £1 concessions for all other supporters.

The likes of Haris Vuckic, Gael Bigirimana and Adam Campbell are also likely to feature, with Beardsley knowing that a win would take the Magpies into second with a game in hand over Arsenal.

"It's a brilliant game for us," said the former England international, whose side beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at Gallowgate in September.

"The manager has given us one or two senior players, which will be frustrating for some of the younger ones - but that's what happens and they'll have to live and learn by that.

"We've got some good games coming up and this league's getting better and better."

Villa are currently ninth in the table with two wins, two draws and two defeats from their seven games.
