Aarons: "We've Had Some Massive Wins"

Rolando Aarons is confident Newcastle United can continue their winning momentum after securing a fourth successive victory on Saturday.

Substitute Ayoze Perez's second-half strike was enough to see off Liverpool 1-0 at St. James' Park, while winger Aarons continued his comeback from two months sidelined by injury with his second appearance in four days.

The 18-year-old was a first-half replacement for Gabriel Obertan and is delighted to be playing his part in the Magpies' current run of good form.

"Everyone's got a massive lift in the dressing room and there is a real togetherness right now," Aarons told nufc.co.uk.

"I think it's going to give us some more momentum for the next game because we've beaten two of the top teams (Manchester City and Liverpool). We've had some massive wins on the bounce so everyone is buzzing."

On Saturday, Aarons caused problems to Liverpool's defence throughout his 63-minute appearance as the visitors struggled to cope with his pace and agility.

And the England Under-20 international thought United deserved their win as they also claimed a third clean sheet in four games.

"I wasn't really nervous, I thought we had done enough to keep hold of the win, but obviously it's the Premier League so you can't really expect anything," added the winger.

"it was great from our back four that we were able to keep the clean sheet and great from Ayoze to get us the goal, so we are all very happy."

Moving forward, the Academy product wants to continue to stake his claim for a place in United's starting line-up but admits coming back into a side brimming with belief has made it much easier for him.

"It's good for me coming back from injury, and now the side has a lot more confidence, it helps me and my teammates," said Aarons.

"I feel good, I was happy to finish the game and I'm still building my fitness back-up and trying to get back into the swing of things.

"My aim is to play every single game and earn a starting place, but that's no different from every other player in the Newcastle team, so I've just got to work hard and try my best as I'm still young."
