Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has named a strong starting line-up for the Magpies' pre-season friendly against Sydney FC in Dunedin, New Zealand.

French striker Emmanuel Riviere is handed a starting spot, just six days after arriving at the Club from Monaco, while there are also places for fellow new recruits Siem de Jong and Jack Colback.

United will line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with goalkeeper Rob Elliot behind a back four of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Steven Taylor, captain Fabricio Coloccini and Massadio Haidara.

Vurnon Anita and Colback will anchor the Magpies' midfield, with Yoan Gouffran, de Jong and teenager Rolando Aarons ahead of them.

And that trio will be hoping to provide plenty of chances for Riviere at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
