Newcastle United 1 (Cisse)
Crystal Palace 0

SECOND HALF UPDATES (PRESS F5 TO REFRESH)

WHISTLE-MDC-icons90+4mins: It's all over and Newcastle have won thanks to Cisse's late, late goal. The Magpies are developing a happy knack for stoppage time strikes at St. James' Park but they had enough chances to have wrapped it up long before then. Click here for the match report.

GOAL-MDC-icons90+3mins - NEWCASTLE UNITED GOAL (1-0): Nothing has gone for Cisse today - until now. Ben Arfa dinks a lovely cross towards the far post and Cisse is there to guide it home with his head. It's his first goal from open play this season and it must be a huge weight off his shoulders. And it should have won United the game.

90+2mins: How on earth have Newcastle not just won this? Patient play between Marveaux and Tiote ends with the latter striking a thunderbolt towards goal only for it to crash back off the bar. With the woodwork still shaking, Yabga-Mbiwa shows great composure to sidefoot the ball into the six yard box but Cisse just can't get a touch. At the other end, Palace, appeal for a penalty but their claims for a handball against Williamson are waved away.

90mins: Fourth official Andy Madley's board shows three minutes of stoppage time.

SUB-MDC-icons88mins: Here comes Newcastle's final substitution as Sylvain Marveaux comes on for Sissoko. Then Ben Arfa gets a sight of goal but blazes high into the Gallowgate.

Yellow-Card-MDC-icons85mins: Guedioura shoots well wide from almost 30 yards, which allows referee Probert to bring play back and book Jedinak for an earlier foul on Cisse.

82mins: Sissoko rolls the ball infield to Tiote, but his shot is high and wild and Newcastle seem to be running out of ideas now.

SUB-MDC-icons80mins: Tony Pulis makes his third and final substitution - Puncheon makes way for Adlene Guedioura.

SUB-MDC-icons76mins: Changes on both benches; Shola Ameobi replaces Gouffran for Newcastle while Glenn Murray comes on for Jerome.

75mins: Fabricio Coloccini wins the ball for Newcastle, then continues his run upfield but Gouffran eventually fires off target from distance.

73mins: Today's attendance is 51,588 including 2,550 Palace supporters.

72mins: Ben Arfa plays in Anita but his shot is blocked by Scott Dann, who slides in bravely.

70mins: Cisse floats a lovely ball out to Ben Arfa on the right and the sub races past two markers before digging out a cross which Cisse meets with his head - but it flies narrowly over the bar.

SUB-MDC-icons68mins: Scotland international Barry Bannan replaces Bolasie for Palace, with Puncheon now moving alongside Jerome up front.

64mins: Sissoko plays a slide-rule pass for Cisse, whose shot from 12 yards is somehow kept out by Speroni. It's just not going for the Senegalese striker at the moment, no matter what he does - and he's tried everything today. The Gallowgate fans sing his name; they can see that he needs their support right now.

62mins: A great driving run down the right from Sissoko results in a cutback which Cisse tries to sidefoot home but misses. The ball then breaks for Tiote, who takes the ball into the box and shoots but it's too close to Speroni.

60mins: Gouffran fires in a 22-yard shot which goes over the bar via a deflection from Dikgacoi.

SUB-MDC-icons59mins: Hatem Ben Arfa is back - he's on in place of De Jong and the Frenchman is cheered loudly as he sprints onto the field.

56mins: With Palace enjoying their best spell of the game, Bolasie sends a swerving shot against the top of the Newcastle crossbar from just outside the box.

55mins: Kagisho Dikgacoi steals in on the right-hand side of the box but Krul spreads himself well to smother before the ball eventually rebounds off the Palace player and goes out for a goal kick.

49mins: Tiote does well to deflect Jerome's effort wide after the striker was picked out, but it's just as well the Ivorian midfielder did so because it was his sloppy pass which played Williamson into trouble to start off that Palace break.

48mins: Puncheon picks up the ball just outside the box, glides inside and lets fly with his powerful strike flashing wide of Krul's far post.

WHISTLE-MDC-icons46mins: The Eagles get the second period underway, with no changes on either side.

FIRST HALF UPDATES

WHISTLE-MDC-icons45+2mins: Not many pundits or fans would have expected many goals today and it's 0-0 at the break. Cisse has been denied by two good Speroni saves and Dummett's free kick just before the break almost flew in while Bolasie came close for Palace, but it hasn't been a classic by any stretch of the imagination. Nonetheless, you can read a half time report here.

45+1mins: De Jong is brought down on the edge of the box and Dummett steps up to take the free kick, which drops an inch or so over the bar - so close on the stroke of half time.

45mins: There will be a minimum of two minutes of stoppage time.

40mins: Tim Krul rolls the ball out from the back but United's move breaks down and Palace break swiftly, with Puncheon playing in Yannick Bolasie whose blistering strike whistles just over the bar.

35mins: Anita floats in a corner from the right and Williamson heads it down. The ball then seems to strike the hand of a Palace defender but referee Lee Probert ignores United's appeals.

33mins: Gouffran drifts into the box with a jinking run but shoots too close to Speroni as the Magpies begin to turn up the heat on Palace.

32mins: From Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa's clearance, Sissoko steams forwards and then pulls the ball back for Cisse. The striker's instinctive effort is low and powerful but Speroni flies to his right to parry and Cisse's wait for a goal continues. He did nothing wrong there, though - it was just good goalkeeping.

24mins: Jerome, whose pace and power have made him a handful for Newcastle so far, shrugs off Mike Williamson and advances towards the box with two colleagues in support. He elects to shoot but Dummett throws himself in the way of the striker's drive - great defending from the 22-year-old left-back.

18mins: Yoan Gouffran and Moussa Sissoko play a nice one-two which results in the former clipping the ball into the box for his team-mate to run onto, but Sissoko fails to properly connect with his shot and Speroni gathers.

12mins: A double chance for United; first De Jong plays the ball into the feet of Cisse, who turns beautifully to make room for a shot which Speroni parries. De Jong follows up as the ball loops back down but can only head over the bar.

8mins: Paul Dummett slides a decent ball along the line to Cisse, who jinks inside and hits a cross-cum-shot which Speroni gathers high above his head. Palace mount an attack of their own from the goalkeeper's clearance and Jason Puncheon's wicked cross from the right is glanced wide by Cameron Jerome.

3mins: Tiote is fouled by Palace skipper Mile Jedinak as he lines up another shot, this time with his left foot, and it's the Ivorian who takes the resulting free kick but it deflects behind off one of his own players.

WHISTLE-MDC-icons1min: St. James' Park is at close to capacity for the visit of Crystal Palace, who sit just outside the relegation zone. They're wearing red and blue and will kick towards the Gallowgate end in the first half as Newcastle get the game started through Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong. Inside the first minute, Cheick Tiote tries his luck from 25 yards but his effort hits a defender and Julian Speroni is able to get down to hold.
