Versatile midfielder Nathan Carlyon joined Newcastle's Academy as a nine-year-old before signing a first professional contract in July 2021.
Preferably a central midfielder, but capable of playing as a full-back, Carlyon began playing football for Beamish Juniors prior to joining Newcastle's youth set-up.
Residing in Stanley, Carlyon was nominated for the 2020/21 Under-18 Premier League Goal of the Season following an outstanding strike from inside his own half against Leeds United in September 2020.
He scored his first goal at under-21 level came during a dramatic 4-3 win against West Bromwich Albion at St. James' Park, firing home a volley in front of the Gallowgate End.
