Rachel Woolston

Position:
Defender

The sister of former Newcastle United men's youngster Paul, Rachel is a full-back who has suffered terrible luck with injuries in recent seasons but is set to bounce back better than ever.

She started playing football at a local boys' club before joining Middlesbrough's Centre of Excellence at 13, then moved to Sunderland Ladies at 15.

In 2018, whilst playing for Sunderland Ladies, she ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament, requiring surgery. In August 2020, she signed for Newcastle United Women, hoping for a fresh start - but that pre-season, suffered the same injury to her other knee which also needed surgery. However once fit, she is sure to be a key player for Becky Langley's side.

Rachel currently studies Sport Development at Northumbria University and also plays for the university football team.
