Industrious Senegalese midfielder Henri Saivet joined the Magpies in January 2016 from French club Bordeaux, where he was captain.
Born in Dakar, he left Africa to join the academy at Bordeaux at the tender age of 11 and quickly rose through the ranks at the French club - becoming the youngest professional in Bordeaux's history when he signed his first professional deal in 2007.
Henri made his first team debut as a teenager on the final day of the 2007/08 campaign and continued his development with sporadic appearances, eventually enjoying a successful loan spell at Ligue 2 side Angers in the second half of the 2010/11 season.
Returning to Bordeaux, he began to make an impact on the first team squad and was a key part of their Coupe de France triumph in 2013 before becoming captain.
Despite representing France at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-21 level, Henri opted to represent his country of birth - Senegal - at senior level in 2013.
Henri joined Saint-Étienne on season long loan on 24 August 2016 where he made 27 appearances, scoring one goal.
He started the 2017/18 season back at Newcastle and scored in a memorable 3-2 away win at West Ham in the Premier League, but moved out on a rest-of-season loan to Turkish top-flight side Sivasspor during the January transfer window.
