Young midfielder Anderson joined the Magpies at the age of eight.
A decade later, Anderson made his senior debut for his boyhood club at the age of 18 in the Magpies' FA Cup tie at Arsenal before making his Premier League bow nine days later against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.
He is the grandson of former Newcastle United winger Geoff Allen, who played for the Magpies during the 1960s and was part of the squad which famously won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.
Hailing from Whitley Bay, the highly-rated youngster starred for the club's youth sides before his senior breakthrough, and has represented both England and Scotland at youth level.
Anderson spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan with Bristol Rovers, where he impressed and netted the goal that earned the Gas promotion to League One on the final day of the campaign.
He returned to Tyneside and became part of Eddie Howe's first team squad, playing 27 times in 2022/23 - including a cameo appearance in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley - as United enjoyed a memorable season.
