Adept on either the left or right flank, Ghanaian international winger Christian Atsu signed in summer 2017 after a successful season-long loan from Chelsea.
Christian spent his formative years on the books of Portuguese giants FC Porto having joined them in 2009 at the age of 17, though his first taste of senior football came during a loan spell at Rio Ave during the 2011/12 season.
He returned to Porto that summer and after making 28 appearances for the club during the 2012/13 campaign - including eight in the UEFA Champions League, he signed for Chelsea.
Newcastle United became his fifth loan club away from Stamford Bridge during the 2016/17 season, having first moved to Vitesse in the Netherlands before spells with Everton and AFC Bournemouth in England and Málaga in Spain.
Christian scored the only goal of the game on his full debut for Newcastle United at Rotherham in October 2016, curling a wonderful strike into the top corner.
Having helped to secure the Championship title with more important goals, his loan was made a permanent deal by Rafa Benítez in summer 2017.
He made his senior debut for Ghana against Lesotho in June 2012 and has amassed a wealth of international experience since.
