Midfielder Jack Young is eager for Newcastle United Under-23s to continue their positive form as the young magpies host Reading on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 12pm GMT).
United's youngsters take on Reading in Premier League 2 at Whitley Park on Saturday aiming to secure another victory in division two to boost their hopes of a play-off spot after an impressive 4-2 win against Stoke City.
Newcastle can leapfrog their opponents with a win and will be out to gain revenge over the Royals following the Magpies' 6-0 defeat on the opening day of the season back in August.
Young, 19, told nufc.co.uk: "We need to continue playing well because the confidence is high and our goal of getting in the play-offs is still there to achieve.
"I think the whole squad wants to put right what happened on the opening day of the season because we have come a long way and we are wanting to put right the results.
"Training has been good and we are really working to fix some of the things that will hopefully change the draws into wins. I think we're on the right path.
"We are treating every game as a must win and we are aware that Reading are also around us in the table. We are sure that if we put in a strong performance, we can overtake them and start to kick on."
With eight goals scored in their least three fixtures in all competitions, United head into the league clash hoping to maintain their impressive goals tally.
The games have been flooding in thick and fast for Newcastle's second-string, who played six games last month, but Young believes that Newcastle's final four fixtures of 2019 could have a strong impact for the remainder of their season.
The teenage midfielder added: "The games have been coming fast against some good teams but, as a player, you want to be tested and if we carry on the good run it could really put us in a strong position for the second half of the season.
"In the Stoke game, we showed that we can really dig in and get a strong result and it was a real confidence boost to score four goals. Hopefully, we can get the job done and play very well.
"It's really positive as a team. We are best when we have the ball so it's very good to see us causing problems for other teams in attack."
