Young joins Tranmere Rovers on loan

Jack Young has joined Tranmere Rovers on a season-long loan from Newcastle United.

The 19-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Magpies in the summer of 2019 and will head out to Prenton Park for the first loan move of his career.

Young, who primarily plays as a central midfielder, joined United's Academy at the age of seven and has worked his way through Newcastle's youth ranks before making his debut for the under-23 squad at the age of 17.

The teenager was part of the first-team squad for Newcastle's FA Cup replay at Oxford United in February and was handed his first taste of Premier League duty with his boyhood club in July after being named on the bench for the Magpies' top-flight trip to Manchester City.

Currently sitting in 14th place of League Two, Young will attempt to help Rovers back into League One at the first attempt after suffering relegation last term.
