Woolston joins Red Devils

Written by Dan King

Goalkeeper Paul Woolston has joined Manchester United following his release by Newcastle in the summer.

Former England youth international Woolston made his Magpies debut at second-string level against the Red Devils as a schoolboy in 2014, and kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory.

But his contract was not renewed when it expired in July, and he has now signed for the Old Trafford side after a successful trial.

He is likely to provide competition for the Manchester United goalkeeping position at under-23 level.
