Defender Charlie Wiggett is hopeful Newcastle United Under-23s can record successive Premier League 2 victories ahead of the young Magpies' visit of Burnley on Friday night.
United's second-string recorded their first league victory of the season in emphatic fashion on Monday evening, claiming a 4-0 away win against their Birmingham City counterparts.
Wiggett, who joined the Magpies from Chelsea in June, broke the deadlock with his first goal for the club before Dylan Stephenson's brace and Caolan Boyd-Munce's own goal sealed an impressive victory for Newcastle's youngsters in Warwickshire.
The Reading-born centre-back is targeting similar success ahead of their forthcoming Division Two clash against the Clarets at Whitley Park (kick-off 7pm BST).
The 18-year-old told nufc.co.uk: "Everyone was pleased, players and coaches, with the result against Birmingham and there was a great atmosphere in the changing rooms after full-time.
"On a personal note, it was great to open the scoring and to get my first goal for the team in just my second appearance. We then did well to keep a clean sheet which, as a defender, is something I look for in my game.
"We had a strong defensive line, worked really well together, and we were very happy with the result.
"There's not more that I could have asked for from a game and hopefully I can do it more often into the upcoming matches."
The young Magpies have made a promising start to their Division Two campaign, currently occupying the play-off spots, and face a Burnley side who are winless in their opening two league fixtures under former Newcastle first-team coach Steve Stone.
Wiggett, however, remains focussed on the task ahead and is hopeful Newcastle's youngsters can claim back-to-back wins in the Premier League 2 for the first time since February 2020.
"We're now back into training and all really looking forward to the next game," the defender added.
"Burnley were 2-0 up at half-time in their last game and lost (3-2 against Sunderland) but just because they're coming off back-to-back defeats does not mean that we can stroll past them. We must be ready and treat it like any other game we will play.
"I looked at the table after we won on Monday and we're sitting in fourth place. Our big push for the season is to be at the top of the table and certainly around the play-off positions.
"I think a strong start to a season is one of the most vital things. If you hit the ground running, it can give you that sort of momentum for the rest of the season."
Supporters will be able to attend the Premier League 2 clash on Friday evening, with season ticket holders gaining free admission otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
