Whitby pre-season tournament awaits second-string
Written by Rory Mitchinson
Newcastle United Under-23s will be one of four sides to contest the inaugural Whitby Town Challenge Cup at the Blues' Turnbull Ground in July.
There is something of an international flavour to the tournament, with Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar joining Celtic, United and hosts Whitby - who currently ply their trade in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division.
It all gets up and running on Thursday, July 27th, when Newcastle take on the Bhoys (7.45pm kick-off).
Whitby and AZ then do battle 24 hours later, with the competition coming to a close the following day, when a third-place play-off (1.30pm kick-off) will precede the final.
Tickets for each game are priced at £10 for adults, £6 for concessions and £3 for children. They can be purchased now via Whitby's official website.
