Midfielder Joe White is hopeful Newcastle United Under-18s can continue their FA Youth Cup run ahead of Saturday's fourth round visit of Leeds United.
Neil Winskill's youngsters host their Whites counterparts at Whitley Park (kick-off 3pm BST) after beating Huddersfield Town in round three via a penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw at the John Smith's Stadium in December.
With a home tie against Watford awaiting the winner, White - who has represented England at under-18 level - admitted the squad are eagerly anticipating the cup clash as Newcastle's teenagers aim to book their spot in the fifth round for the first time since 2018.
"We're very excited for these type of games," the 18-year-old told nufc.co.uk. "You always look forward to them a little bit more and there's been a really good energy to training so hopefully we can take that into the game on Saturday.
"The third round of the Youth Cup and the derbies against Sunderland are the games we all look out for the most at the start of each season. We were all buzzing to get through against Huddersfield and we now can't wait for the game against Leeds.
"We beat them 3-0 a couple of weeks ago (in the U18 Premier League North) so we know what they are about, what their strengths and weaknesses are. Hopefully, we can produce a similar performance and result at the weekend.
"In games like this, it's important that we play with no fear and make sure we have no regrets after the game. The bigger the game, the more nervous some people can be so it's important we leave everything on the pitch.
"We need to show courage, believe in ourselves and hopefully the result will take care of itself."
Newcastle United last lifted the FA Youth Cup in 1985, inspired by Paul Gascoigne, whilst the likes of Sean and Matty Longstaff, Paul Dummett and Andy Carroll all featured for the Magpies' youth sides before making their names in the first-team.
White, who was part of United's under-17 squad which reached the 2019 SuperCupNI final (formerly known as the Milk Cup) before narrowly losing out to Valencia, is hopeful of following in illustrious footsteps whilst gaining valuable experience in the early stages of his career.
"The group have been together for a while now so we know what everyone can do," the Carlisle-born midfielder added. "The more cup games you play in, the more experience you gain.
"Getting to the final in Northern Ireland was massive but we don't want to feel that feeling of losing again so we'll try and take that into Saturday.
"If we can have a good run, it will give us a lot of confidence for league games and other cup competitions. You can play anybody in the Youth Cup and it's different to league games with something riding on it.
"You can go to extra-time and penalties, like we did in the third round, which you don't experience in the league which is vital.
"It's important to manage the game against Leeds. There were spells where we were on top against Huddersfield and then they were so we need to pick our times well to produce a good result."
