United wins programme of the year

Newcastle United’s official matchday programme – United – has netted a trio of national awards, including being named as the best publication in the Championship.

Judged by an expert panel from the Independent View magazine, the programme has also picked up the top prize for ‘Best Content’ and ‘Best Feature’.

It follows on from a similar haul last season, when the club was awarded the Programme of the Year title in recognition for excellence.

Each 100-page matchday programme is available around St. James’ Park for just £3 on matchdays and includes exclusive content from manager Rafa Benítez, interviews, photos and features for fans of all ages.

“Newcastle United has continued to set a high standard in quality this season,” the judging panel wrote. “It is something which most clubs can only aspire to.

“The publication produced for each home game is distinct and the hard work put in by the editorial team is evident in a brilliant, high quality programme that is available to supporters.

“Modifications to the style, design and content have enabled United be judged a worthy winner of the Championship Programme of the Year award. It is a well deserved accolade.”

The club has been awarded the ‘Best Feature’ title for the second consecutive season, with historic programme article ‘We’ve Been Here Before’ securing the title this time around.

And capping off the haul, the programme has won the ‘Best Content’ title, with the judging panel praising an exemplary level of consistency throughout.
