United teenager makes England bow

Written by Dan King

Newcastle teenager Adam Wilson made his England under-18s debut as the Young Lions beat Qatar 4-0 on Wednesday evening.

The left-sided 17-year-old started the game at St. George's Park as he gained his first taste of international football.

Two goals from Middlesbrough's Stephen Walker gave England a 2-0 lead at half time, before Ian Poveda-Ocampo of Manchester City added a third and an own goal completed the scoring.

Wilson - who has been in good form for Dave Watson's under-18 team over the past two seasons - played for the first 68 minutes before making way for Poveda-Ocampo.

It was the first of three games for Neil Dewsnip's squad, who face Argentina in their next game on Friday before a fixture against Belarus on Monday, 26th March.
