United offer helping hand to Hebburn

Written by Dan King

Newcastle United will travel to non-league neighbours Hebburn Town for a fundraising friendly next month.

The Ebac Northern League Division Two side are battling to stay afloat and, with falling gates, a lack of sponsors and increased costs, there is a real possibility that the final whistle could blow on 105 years of footballing history.

However, a Newcastle United XI will make the short trip to the Hebburn Sports and Social Ground for a fundraising friendly on Tuesday, 18th April (kick-off 7.30pm).

And after the game, coach Peter Beardsley - the former Magpies and England legend - has agreed to hold a question and answer session at the Hornets' clubhouse.

Tickets for both the match and the talk-in cost £12. They must be purchased in advance and availability is limited to 80.

Tickets for the game only are £5 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 for children.
