United host Performance Analysis event

Newcastle United's Haydn Rockall, Joe Friar and Liam Murray hosted a Performance Analysis event at St. James' Park on Wednesday, with 45 performance analysts attending from 18 different football clubs across the UK.

The trio are based at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy and use video analysis to assist in the development of the club's young players and the day-long event took place in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite. Coach Neil Winskill also helped to compere the event.

Representatives attended from clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion, Cardiff City, Derby County, Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Southampton.

As well as giving clubs the opportunity to share ideas and best practise, the event featured guest talks from Hudl, ChyronHego and Newcastle Falcons. There were also presentations from Newcastle United coaches including Ben Dawson and Liam Bramley.

Topics included the structure and delivery of performance analysis between development phases, coaches' and players' engagement with analysis, the impact of analysis on individual players and teams, common problems and solutions for analysts​ and the future of performance analysis.
