United As One against homophobia

Sunday's Premier League game against Southampton at St. James' Park will be dedicated to United As One - Newcastle United's inclusion, diversity and welfare brand - with a specific focus on homophobia.

The initiative coincides with Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign, in which Premier League clubs come together to show their support for LGBT people in football and beyond.

During their warm-ups on Sunday, United's players will wear t-shirts sporting the rainbow edition United As One logo, while the Northern Proud Voices - the region's largest choir for LGBT people and friends of - will perform for guests arriving at the stadium's hospitality areas.

In addition, the logo will be displayed on the stadium's big screen, advertising hoardings and poster sites, as well as the front cover of the matchday programme, UNITED.

Founded in April this year, United As One encompasses a wide range of activities currently being undertaken by the club and the Newcastle United Foundation, which are geared towards ending discrimination and inequality in football and in society.

The Magpies' LGBT supporters' group, United With Pride, was also relaunched earlier this year, with memberships continuing to grow.
