Under-23s face Whitley Bay in pre-season friendly

Written by Dan King

Newcastle will send a young team to Whitley Bay for a pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

Peter Beardsley's side were 3-0 winners at Gateshead on Saturday and beat Darlington 2-1 in their first friendly of the summer, so will be looking to make it three wins out of three at Hillheads.

Whitley Bay, meanwhile, have won three and drawn one of their friendly matches so far.

Beardsley could include recent signings Josef Yarney and Stefan O'Connor, while the likes of Yannick Aziakonou, Owen Bailey and Elias Frijtof will be hoping to feature.

Premier League referee Michael Oliver will be the man in the middle and kick-off is at 7pm BST.

Admission will be £6 for adults and £4 concessions, and, with a big crowd expected, spectators are encouraged to arrive early to avoid queues at the turnstiles.
