Thompson selected for England Under-18s

Newcastle United youngster Max Thompson has been called up to the England Under-18 squad for their fixtures against Sweden and Denmark later this month.

The Magpies goalkeeper, a regular for United's under-18 side this term, has been included in head coach Ryan Garry's 23-man squad for the double-header, which will see the Young Lions fly out to Spain for both matches.

They face Sweden on Friday, 25th March before taking on Denmark on Monday, 28th March. Both friendlies will be played at the Marbella Football Centre.

Thompson has one cap to his name for England at under-18 level, which came in a 3-0 win over Russia in October 2021. He will link up with Garry and the rest of the squad in Hertfordshire on Tuesday before flying to Spain ahead of the fixtures.
