Team news: Two up front for Foxes clash

Written by Tom Easterby

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benítez has opted to start with two forwards as the Magpies look to celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary with a win against Leicester City on Saturday.

Dwight Gayle will partner Joselu in attack at St. James’ Park, while there is also a recall for full back DeAndre Yedlin and fit-again duo Jamaal Lascelles and Christian Atsu take their places on the bench.

Karl Darlow continues in goal, with Yedlin, Florian Lejeune, Ciaran Clark and Javier Manquillo making up the back four.

Matt Ritchie will start wide on the right, with Isaac Hayden partnering Mikel Merino in the middle and Jacob Murphy on the left flank.

And Gayle and Joselu will look to provide the firepower as United go in search of victory on a historic night for the club.

There are plenty of attacking options for Benítez to choose from on the bench, with Aleksandar Mitrović, Ayoze Pérez, Atsu and Mohamed Diamé named among the substitutes, along with Rob Elliot, Jonjo Shelvey and Lascelles.

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Karl Darlow; DeAndre Yedlin, Florian Lejeune, Ciaran Clark, Javier Manquillo; Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden, Mikel Merino, Jacob Murphy; Dwight Gayle, Joselu.

Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey, Mohamed Diamé, Ayoze Pérez, Christian Atsu, Aleksandar Mitrović.
