Team news: Skipper starts at St. James'

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has restored captain Jamaal Lascelles to his starting line-up for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Burnley at St. James’ Park (3pm kick-off).

Centre back Lascelles missed the 1-1 midweek draw with Norwich City through suspension, but returns to the starting 11 for the crucial showdown with Burnley as United seek a first win of the campaign.

Head coach Howe has made two changes to his side for the visit of his former club, with Miguel Almirón also handed a start in place of Ryan Fraser and Lascelles coming in for Ciaran Clark, who was red-carded against the Canaries.

Martin Dúbravka starts in goal, with Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Lascelles and Jamal Lewis forming a back four.

Joe Willock will partner Jonjo Shelvey in the middle of the park, with Almirón and Allan Saint-Maximin starting out wide.

Callum Wilson will again lead the line, with support from in-form Brazilian Joelinton as the Magpies look for a victory over Sean Dyche’s men.

Matt Ritchie is back from suspension and will take his place on the bench alongside Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth and Federico Fernández.

Jacob Murphy, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff and former Burnley man Jeff Hendrick are also among the substitutes.

And fit-again Dwight Gayle provides an attacking option should Howe wish to change things against the club where he spent 21 months as manager a decade ago.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles, Jamal Lewis; Miguel Almirón, Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Willock, Allan Saint-Maximin; Joelinton, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth, Jacob Murphy, Federico Fernández, Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Sean Longstaff, Dwight Gayle.
