Team news: Quartet return

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Four players return to Newcastle United’s starting XI as the Magpies take on Swansea City in a crunch encounter at St. James’ Park.

Karl Darlow replaces Freddie Woodman between the sticks, with last week’s young debutant dropping out of the squad entirely.

DeAndre Yedlin comes in for Javier Manquillo at right back, with Mohamed Diamé preferred to Mikel Merino in the engine room.

Rafa Benítez’s final change to the side who overcame Luton Town in the FA Cup sees Christian Atsu restored to the line-up at the expense of Jacob Murphy.

Murphy, Manquillo and Merino have all been named on the bench, where they are joined by the fit-again Rob Elliot.

Massadio HaïdaraIsaac Hayden and Joselu are the other options Benítez will be able to call upon this afternoon.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, DeAndre Yedlin, Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett, Mohamed Diamé, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Ayoze Pérez, Christian Atsu, Dwight Gayle.

Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haïdara, Javier Manquillo, Isaac Hayden, Mikel Merino, Jacob Murphy, Joselu.
