Team news: One change for Clarets clash

Written by Tom Easterby

Mohamed Diamé will start his first Premier League game of the season as Newcastle United take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Monday night.

Senegalese midfielder Diamé comes in for Isaac Hayden in the middle of the park, with manager Rafa Benítez making just the one change from the team that beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at St. James’ Park last weekend.

Rob Elliot continues in goal, with DeAndre Yedlin, captain Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune and Javier Manquillo once again lining up at the back.

Matt Ritchie starts wide on the right, with Jonjo Shelvey partnering Diamé in central midfield and Christian Atsu on the left.

And Ayoze Pérez will continue to provide support for lone frontman Joselu.

Goalkeeper Karl Darlow and defenders Ciaran Clark and Jesús Gámez are named on the bench, along with Hayden, Henri Saivet and Jacob Murphy.

Forward Dwight Gayle has also returned from injury to take his place among the substitutes.

Newcastle United (4-4-1-1): Rob Elliot; DeAndre Yedlin, Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo; Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey, Mohamed Diamé, Christian Atsu; Ayoze Pérez; Joselu.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Ciaran Clark, Jesús Gámez, Isaac Hayden, Henri Saivet, Jacob Murphy, Dwight Gayle.
