Team news: One change for City showdown

Steve Bruce has made one change to his Newcastle United side for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City, with Javier Manquillo coming in for the injured DeAndre Yedlin.

The champions arrive at St. James’ Park (12:30pm kick-off) hoping avoid a second defeat to the Magpies in as many years, with United having beaten Pep Guardiola’s men 2-1 on Tyneside last term.

And Bruce has opted to stick with the majority of the side that lined up at Aston Villa on Monday night, with Manquillo’s inclusion at right back the only alteration.

Martin Dúbravka continues in goal, with Manquillo and Jetro Willems either side of central defensive trio Federico Fernández, Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett.

Jonjo Shelvey captains the Magpies in the absence of Jamaal Lascelles and lines up with Isaac Hayden in midfield, while Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton and Miguel Almirón start in attack.

Sean Longstaff returns to the bench after serving a three-match ban for his red card against Wolves, while his brother Matty is also among the subs.

Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth, Fabian Schär, Christian Atsu and Dwight Gayle are also named as substitutes.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Javier Manquillo, Federico Fernández, Ciaran Clark, Paul Dummett, Jetro Willems; Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden; Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, Miguel Almirón.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth, Fabian Schär, Matty Longstaff, Sean Longstaff, Christian Atsu, Dwight Gayle.
