Team news: Manquillo replaces Murphy

Steve Bruce has made one change to Newcastle United's starting XI for this afternoon's Premier League clash at Everton as Javier Manquillo comes in for Jacob Murphy.

The Spanish defender dropped to the bench for the Magpies' midweek defeat against Leeds United at St. James' Park but takes over Murphy's place on the right-hand side of United's backline, which includes Jamal Lewis on the opposite flank and a back three consisting of Fabian Schär, captain Jamaal Lascelles and Isaac Hayden. Goalkeeper Karl Darlow continues in between the sticks at Goodison Park.

Jonjo Shelvey, making his 100th Premier League appearance for the club this afternoon, is likely to partner Jeff Hendrick in the middle of the park while Miguel Almirón, who netted United's equaliser against Leeds on Tuesday, and Ryan Fraser will support leading goalscorer Callum Wilson.

Allan Saint-Maximin has been named on United's bench for their trip to Merseyside while attacking trio Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle and Joelinton are all among the substitutes.

Ciaran Clark, who missed the Magpies' last two league fixtures through injury, has also been included in today's matchday squad and there also places for Martin Dúbravka, Emil Krafth, Matty Longstaff and teenager Elliot Anderson.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Fabian Schär, Jamal Lewis, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser, Miguel Almirón, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, Emil Krafth, Ciaran Clark, Matty Longstaff, Allan Saint-Maximin, Elliot Anderson, Joelinton, Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll.
