Team news: Lascelles returns to face Man United

Skipper Jamaal Lascelles is back in Newcastle United's starting line-up as the Magpies host Manchester United at St. James' Park (kick-off 8pm).

Steve Bruce's side return to Premier League action following the international break and could jump into second place of the English top-flight with a win against Ole Gunnar Solksjær's Red Devils.

Lascelles is the only change to the Magpies' starting eleven which beat Burnley 3-1 a fortnight ago as the 26-year-old comes in for Fabian Schär, who has been named on the bench.

Karl Darlow starts in goal, with Federico Fernández partnering Lascelles at the heart of United's defence, with Emil Krafth and Jamal Lewis as full-backs.

Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey will line up in midfield while Jeff Hendrick, who returned from international duty with Republic of Ireland this week, keeps his place in the starting eleven.

Callum Wilson leads the line for Steve Bruce's side, aiming to score his fifth league goal in as many matches and will supported by Joelinton and Allan-Saint-Maximin, who signed a new six-year deal with the Magpies this week.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Federico Fernández, Jamal Lewis, Jeff Hendrick, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almirón, Andy Carroll
