Team news: Joelinton starts at Easter Road

Written by Dan King

Club record signing Joelinton makes his first start for Newcastle United in tonight's friendly at Hibernian (kick-off 7.45pm BST).

The Brazilian will lead the line at Easter Road as Steve Bruce names a strong team in United's penultimate warm-up match of the summer. Miguel Almirón plays behind him, having made his first pre-season appearance as a substitute at Preston North End on Saturday, having played for Paraguay in the Copa América during the close season.

Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Sean Longstaff are in midfield, with a central defence of Fabian Schär, Paul Dummett and skipper Jamaal Lascelles and Javier Manquillo and Matt Ritchie playing as wing-backs.

Karl Darlow starts in goal, just as head coach Bruce suggested he would as he looks to rotate his keepers during pre-season.

Freddie Woodman, who played the full 90 minutes at Deepdale, is on the bench alongside Jamie Sterry, Ciaran Clark, Federico Fernández, Ki Sung-yueng, Rolando Aarons, Matty Longstaff, Jacob Murphy and Yoshinori Muto.
