Team news: Gouffran leads the line

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Mohamed Diame and Yoan Gouffran both return for Newcastle United as the Magpies take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium tonight.

Gouffran has been tasked with leading the line as United look to become just the second side to beat the Seagulls on their own turf this term.

Aleksandar Mitrovic makes way for the Frenchman, with Ayoze Perez also dropping out of the side.

Elsewhere, there is a familiar look to the Newcastle line-up, with Karl Darlow in goal, and the back-four unchanged once again.

Jack Colback and Jonjo Shelvey occupy the middle of the park, with Matt Ritchie and Christian Atsu out wide.

Mitrovic, Perez and Daryl Murphy are among seven substitutes as the Sky Bet Championship’s top two go head-to-head.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, DeAndre Yedlin, Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Jack Colback, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Mohamed Diame, Christian Atsu, Yoan Gouffran.

Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Grant Hanley, Jesus Gamez, Vurnon Anita, Ayoze Perez, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Daryl Murphy.
